EA invited FIFA fans in several regions to Fifa 16 Coins vote for the local player they wanted to see on the cover of FIFA 16 coins back in mid-June. In a first for the franchise FIFA players were asked to help decide which athletes would join Lionel Messi on the cover of the game in Australia, France, Latin America, Mexico, and the UK.
Each of the five participating regions had a number of eligible players to select from; for the Australian cover the three candidates were all Matildas (Steph Catley, Matildas vice-captain Kyah Simon, and AFC 2014 Women’s Player of the Year Katrina Gorry).
